- 1 sheet puff pastry, thawed
- ½ cup cream cheese, softened
- 2 tbsp sugar
- ½ tsp vanilla extract
- ½ cup strawberry jam or chopped fresh strawberries
- 1 egg, beaten
- 1 tbsp milk
- Powdered sugar for dusting (optional)
Instructions
- Preheat oven to 200°C and line a baking sheet with parchment paper.
- In a small bowl, mix cream cheese, sugar, and vanilla until smooth.
- Roll out puff pastry slightly and cut into squares.
- Spoon a little cream cheese mixture into the center of each square, then top with strawberry jam or fresh strawberries.
- Fold edges slightly inward and brush pastry edges with beaten egg mixed with milk.
- Bake until golden and puffed.
- Cool slightly and dust with powdered sugar if desired.
Notes
- Yield: 6 pastries.
- Oven temperature is 200°C (392°F).
- For a lighter pastry, chill the assembled pastries briefly before baking.
- Use strawberry jam for a sweeter filling or chopped fresh strawberries for a fruity bite.
- Dust with powdered sugar just before serving for presentation.
