Description

Philly Cheesesteak Sloppy Joes: A 30-minute, family-friendly twist on the classic Philly cheesesteak. Juicy ground beef, peppers and onions simmered in a rich steak-style sauce, topped with melted provolone, and served on toasted buns for a hearty, cheese-packed dinner.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 1 lb ground beef
  • 1 tbsp olive oil
  • 1 small onion, finely chopped
  • 1 green bell pepper, finely chopped
  • 2 cloves garlic, minced
  • 1 tbsp steak seasoning
  • ½ cup beef broth
  • 2 tbsp Worcestershire sauce
  • 2 tbsp A-1 style steak sauce (halal-friendly brand)
  • Salt and pepper to taste
  • 6 slices provolone cheese
  • 4 sandwich buns, toasted

Instructions

  1. Heat olive oil in a large skillet over medium heat. Add onion and bell pepper; sauté for 3–4 minutes until softened.
  2. Add ground beef and cook until browned, breaking it apart with a spoon. Drain excess fat.
  3. Stir in garlic, steak seasoning, beef broth, Worcestershire sauce, and steak sauce. Simmer for 5–7 minutes until the mixture thickens slightly.
  4. Spoon the beef mixture onto toasted buns. Top each with a slice of provolone cheese and let it melt slightly before serving.
  5. Serve hot with fries or salad for a hearty, satisfying dinner.

Notes

  • For a spicier kick, add a dash of hot sauce to the beef mixture.
  • To boost cheese melt, place an extra slice of provolone on top and cover briefly until melted.
  • Ensure sauces used are halal-certified to keep the dish halal-friendly.
  • Leftovers can be stored in an airtight container in the refrigerator for up to 3 days. Reheat on the stovetop or in the microwave.
  • Can be made with mozzarella or pepper jack as a variation.
