- 1 lb halal turkey breakfast sausage
- 1 small onion, diced
- 2 cups shredded Gruyère cheese
- 8 large eggs
- 2 cups heavy cream
- 1 cup milk
- 1 tsp Dijon mustard
- 1 tsp dried thyme
- ½ tsp black pepper
- ½ tsp salt
- 2 tbsp butter, melted
- Fresh parsley for garnish
Instructions
- Grease a 9×13 baking dish and add the cubed sourdough bread.
- In a skillet, cook the halal turkey sausage and onion over medium heat until browned.
- Spread the sausage mixture evenly over the bread.
- Sprinkle shredded Gruyère on top.
- In a large bowl, whisk eggs, heavy cream, milk, Dijon mustard, thyme, salt, and pepper.
- Pour the custard mixture evenly over the casserole.
- Cover tightly and refrigerate overnight (8–12 hours).
- When ready to bake, preheat oven to 350°F (175°C).
- Drizzle melted butter on top and bake uncovered for 45–55 minutes until golden, puffed, and set.
- Rest 5 minutes before serving, then garnish with parsley.
