Description

Ingredients

  • 2 cups fresh strawberries, hulled and sliced
  • ½ cup sugar
  • 1 tbsp lemon juice
  • 1 tbsp cornstarch
  • 2 tbsp water
  • ½ tsp vanilla extract

Instructions

  1. In a saucepan over medium heat, combine strawberries, sugar, and lemon juice.
  2. Cook, stirring occasionally, until strawberries release their juices and begin to soften.
  3. In a small bowl, mix cornstarch and water to create a slurry.
  4. Stir the slurry into the strawberry mixture and simmer until thickened.
  5. Remove from heat and stir in vanilla extract.
  6. Let cool slightly before serving or refrigerate until ready to use.

Notes

  • Store leftover sauce in the refrigerator for up to 5 days.
  • For a smoother sauce, mash some of the strawberries before simmering or blend after cooking.
