- 1 tbsp olive oil
- 1 small onion, chopped
- 2 cloves garlic, minced
- 4 medium potatoes, thinly sliced
- 1 can (10.5 oz) cream of mushroom soup (or cream of chicken)
- ½ cup milk
- 1 tsp Worcestershire sauce (halal version)
- 1 tsp paprika
- ½ tsp dried thyme
- Salt and pepper to taste
- 1 cup shredded cheddar cheese (plus extra for topping)
- Fresh parsley, chopped (for garnish)
Instructions
- Preheat oven to 375°F (190°C) and grease a 9×13-inch baking dish.
- In a skillet, heat olive oil over medium heat. Add onion and garlic; cook until soft. Add ground beef, season with salt, pepper, paprika, and thyme, and cook until browned. Drain excess fat.
- In a bowl, whisk together cream of mushroom soup, milk, and Worcestershire sauce until smooth.
- Layer half of the sliced potatoes in the baking dish. Add half the beef mixture, followed by half the soup mixture. Repeat layers.
- Sprinkle with shredded cheese and cover with foil.
- Bake for 45 minutes covered, then uncover and bake for another 15 minutes, until potatoes are tender and cheese is golden and bubbly.
- Let rest for 10 minutes before serving. Garnish with fresh parsley.
