- 3 cups beef broth
- 1 tbsp Worcestershire sauce (halal)
- 1 small onion, sliced
- 2 cloves garlic, minced
- 2 tbsp cornstarch + 2 tbsp water (for gravy)
- 6 slices sandwich bread
- Mashed potatoes, for serving
- Optional garnish: chopped parsley
Instructions
- Heat olive oil in a skillet over medium-high heat. Season chuck roast with salt, pepper, garlic powder, onion powder, and paprika.
- Sear roast on all sides until browned.
- Transfer roast to the slow cooker and add onion and garlic.
- Pour beef broth and Worcestershire sauce over the roast.
- Cover and cook on low for 8 hours until beef is fork-tender.
- Remove beef and shred or slice.
- Whisk cornstarch slurry into the cooking liquid, cover, and cook on high for 10-15 minutes until gravy thickens.
- To serve, place bread on a plate, top with beef, spoon gravy generously over, and serve with mashed potatoes.
