Ingredients

  • 1.5 lb boneless, skinless chicken breasts or thighs
  • 1 can (10.5 oz) cream of chicken soup
  • 1 cup chicken broth
  • 1 packet chicken gravy mix (halal-friendly)
  • 1 tsp garlic powder
  • 1 tsp onion powder
  • ½ tsp paprika
  • Salt and black pepper to taste
  • Optional: fresh parsley, mashed potatoes, rice, or biscuits for serving

Instructions

  1. Place the chicken in the bottom of your crockpot.
  2. In a bowl, whisk together cream of chicken soup, chicken broth, gravy mix, garlic powder, onion powder, paprika, salt, and pepper.
  3. Pour the gravy mixture evenly over the chicken.
  4. Cover and cook on low for 4 hours or on high for 2–3 hours, until the chicken is tender and easily pulls apart.
  5. Shred the chicken right in the crockpot and stir to combine with the gravy.
  6. Serve hot over mashed potatoes, rice, or flaky biscuits.

Notes

  • Boneless, skinless chicken works best; thighs stay juicier than breasts.
  • For a thicker gravy, whisk 1–2 teaspoons cornstarch with water and stir in during the last 15 minutes of cooking, or make a slurry ahead of time.
  • Leftovers refrigerate 3–4 days; reheat gently.
  • To make gluten-free, use gluten-free cream of chicken soup and gluten-free gravy mix (if needed).
