Description

Delicious French Dip Squares are a savory, cheesy, and irresistibly dunkable 30-minute party appetizer that combine tender roast beef and melty cheese baked inside soft rolls with a warm au jus for dipping.


Ingredients

  • 12 slider buns or dinner rolls
  • 1 lb deli-sliced roast beef
  • 12 slices provolone or Swiss cheese
  • ¼ cup mayonnaise
  • 1 tbsp Dijon mustard
  • For the buttery topping:
  • 4 tbsp butter, melted
  • 1 tsp garlic powder
  • ½ tsp onion powder
  • 1 tsp dried parsley
  • For serving:
  • 2 cups beef broth or au jus gravy

Instructions

  1. Preheat oven to 350°F (175°C) and lightly grease a baking dish.
  2. Slice rolls in half horizontally and place the bottom halves in the dish.
  3. Spread mayonnaise and Dijon mustard evenly over the rolls.
  4. Layer roast beef evenly on top, then add cheese slices.
  5. Place the top halves of the rolls on.
  6. Mix melted butter with garlic powder, onion powder, and parsley.
  7. Brush the butter mixture generously over the tops.
  8. Cover loosely with foil and bake for 18–20 minutes until cheese is melted.
  9. Uncover and bake another 8–10 minutes until golden.
  10. Warm beef broth or au jus and serve on the side for dipping.

Notes

  • Best served warm with warm au jus for dipping.
  • Assemble ahead of time and refrigerate until ready to bake.
  • You can substitute different sliced cheeses if desired.
  • Leftovers can be stored in the refrigerator for 2–3 days and reheated.
