- 12 Hawaiian sweet rolls
- 1 lb ground beef (halal)
- 1 tsp garlic powder
- 1 tsp onion powder
- ½ tsp smoked paprika
- Salt and black pepper to taste
- ½ cup BBQ sauce
- 1½ cups shredded cheddar or Colby Jack cheese
- 6 slices turkey bacon, cooked and crumbled
- ¼ cup crispy fried onions
- 2 tbsp melted butter
- ½ tsp sesame seeds (optional)
Instructions
- Preheat oven to 350°F (175°C).
- Brown the ground beef in a skillet with garlic powder, onion powder, smoked paprika, salt, and pepper. Drain excess fat.
- Stir BBQ sauce into the cooked beef and remove from heat.
- Slice Hawaiian rolls in half horizontally and place bottom layer in a baking dish.
- Spread BBQ beef evenly over the rolls.
- Sprinkle with cheese, turkey bacon, and crispy fried onions.
- Place the top halves of the rolls on and brush with melted butter. Sprinkle sesame seeds if using.
- Cover loosely with foil and bake for 15 minutes.
- Uncover and bake another 8–10 minutes until golden and melty. Slice and serve warm.
Notes
- For a spicier kick, add a pinch of chili powder or a few dashes of hot sauce to the beef mixture.
- Make-ahead tip: assemble up to the point of brushing with butter, refrigerate, then bake when ready to serve.
- Use gluten-free Hawaiian rolls if needed for a gluten-free option (note: cross-contamination with non-gluten items).
