- 1 lb halal turkey sausage or halal beef sausage (casings removed)
- 1 small onion, finely diced
- 2 garlic cloves, minced
- ½ tsp dried sage
- ½ tsp dried thyme
- ¼ tsp paprika
- ¼ tsp black pepper
- 1 sheet puff pastry, thawed
- 1 egg, beaten (for egg wash)
- Sesame seeds or poppy seeds for topping (optional)
Instructions
- Preheat the oven to 400°F (200°C). Line a baking sheet with parchment.
- In a skillet, cook the halal sausage with onion until browned and fully cooked.
- Add garlic, sage, thyme, paprika, and black pepper. Cook 1–2 minutes more. Let cool slightly.
- Roll out the puff pastry sheet and cut it into two long rectangles.
- Spoon the sausage mixture into a log shape along one edge of each rectangle.
- Roll the pastry over the filling, sealing the edges tightly.
- Slice into small rolls (about 1–2 inches each).
- Place on the baking sheet, brush with egg wash, and sprinkle seeds if desired.
- Bake for 18–22 minutes, or until golden and puffed.
- Serve warm with mustard, cranberry sauce, or your favorite dip.

- Use halal sausage with no casings for easy rolling.
- Chill the sausage filling briefly if it becomes too soft to handle.
- These can be assembled a few hours ahead and kept refrigerated before baking.
