Description

  • 12 Hawaiian rolls
  • 1 lb ground beef
  • 1 tsp salt
  • ½ tsp black pepper
  • 1 tsp garlic powder
  • 1 tsp onion powder
  • 6 slices cheddar or American cheese, cut in half
  • ¼ cup ketchup
  • ¼ cup mayonnaise
  • ½ cup dill pickle slices (optional)
  • For the buttery topping:
  • 3 tbsp butter, melted
  • ½ tsp sesame seeds
  • ½ tsp garlic powder

Instructions

  1. Preheat oven to 350°F (175°C) and lightly grease a baking dish.
  2. In a bowl, season ground beef with salt, pepper, garlic powder, and onion powder.
  3. Cook beef in a skillet over medium heat until browned. Drain excess fat.
  4. Slice Hawaiian rolls in half horizontally and place bottom halves in the baking dish.
  5. Spread cooked beef evenly over the rolls.
  6. Add cheese slices evenly over the beef, then add pickles if using.
  7. Spread ketchup and mayonnaise on the top halves of the rolls and place them on.
  8. Mix melted butter with sesame seeds and garlic powder, then brush over the tops.
  9. Bake uncovered for 15–18 minutes until cheese is melted and tops are golden.
  10. Slice and serve warm.

  • Can be assembled ahead and refrigerated for 1–2 hours before baking.
  • For a lighter version, use lean ground beef or turkey.
  • Whole-wheat Hawaiian rolls can be substituted for a healthier option.
